Kayaking provides great shots of boats - almost waterline...

Nanaimo - Harbour Rowboat

I don't know how many times I've strolled the Nanaimo Harbour; this boat is a perennial.

Quadra Island - Coast Guard Vessel past Yuculta

While our stay on Quadra Island took us to Heriot Bay, our sightseeing drives included a trip to the lighthouse near Yaculta. The tidal rapids at Yaculta were an especially impressive sight (with the Campbell River shore in the background). In this picture, a Canadian Coast Guard vessel (CCGS Point Race) is pushing mightily against the current.

Quadra Island - Salmon Seeker

We did considerable exploring of Quadra Island during our April visit. One of the locations we stumbled upon revealed the Oak Bay Marine Group's property, including the ship, the Salmon Seeker.

Sointula - Aluminum Skiff waiting for Herring Season

The shore at Sointula is infinitely picturesque and interesting. Alongside a tired old boathouse, we spied these herring skiffs. Herring season is but weeks/(days?) away.

Port McNeill - Fishing Vessel Port

In February, we were in Port McNeill, waiting for the ferry to Sointula on Malcolm Island. While waiting, we strolled around the docks. While admiring the moored vessels, we saw the fishing vessel, Orford Ness leaving Port McNeill into a South-Easterly wind.
